I am usually able to call in and schedule an appointment for the next business day, although walk-ins will often find an open chair at least within the same day, if not within the hour. I have no preference as to who cuts my hair, as every staff member here has an equal level of expertise and professionalism. Despite having long, thick, curly hair, I'm generally out the door and on with my day in 20 minutes, allowing me to schedule appointments before work without worrying about compromising punctuality. Despite possessing unrivaled service and flexibility, Hairport is by far the most affordable hairdresser in the area, charging only 22 for a typical men's haircut. This paltry sum includes complimentary tonic and massage, a service other more *corporate* joints consider a rather pricy premium. I always tip around 100% because I feel as though the service I'm provided (which itself never strays even close to "bare minimum") deserves much more than the bare minimum payment. I have often struggled to find even competent hairstylists, which has often led me to forgoing haircuts for years at a time. Hairport has changed the way I approach cutting my hair, and I will continue to use them exclusively for as long as I am in Iowa City. My recommendation of this business is unqualified.

I have been going to this upscale establishment. Years ago when I worked in the neighborhood and started to get shaggy in the wig, I found a shop. My coworkers would take lunch to go get their hair cut. It was hot, someone else was grabbing paperwork and I walked over. By chance there was an opening. The Hairport did not dissapoint. Year 15 Make an appointment, heed my words!

I’m new to the area and The Hairport was fairly close to my house. I can honestly say that the only negative review is the reason that made me choose this place. Anyway... as luck would have it, I had the “lady barber” and she did great! I’ll definitely be back.
